The Long Lonely Stint

This blog, the second in a day! is a shout out to my friend Malinari who routinely writes a blog about his ongoing relationship with his children, and the tribulations of being a single father.  He often uses the phrase “The Long Lonely Stint” to refer to the time when his children are with their mother, a phrase I’ve recently come to understand most clearly.

Today is the first day of one of the longest stretches of time I’ve ever been apart from him.  I’m feeling pretty sad about it, but it’s all part of our new life, and makes our time together that much more special.

All in all, I’ll miss my boy something fierce, but unlike many single parents who send their child off for a lonely stint, I at least don’t have to worry about him being taken care of.  He’s in good hands for the next few nights, even if those hands aren’t mine.

This is roughly how I feel thinking about it.

See you in a week buddy.

  1. Awesome pics! I hope the time flies by until he returns (even though I know from experience it tends to crawl along like an asthmatic tortoise with gout – ahhh the wicked elasticity of grandfather time).
    Take care buddy 😉
