With a four-on, four-off schedule, it’s somewhat rare that I have my son for the entire weekend. This particular weekend, I picked him up from school on Friday, and he goes back to his mother tomorrow (Tuesday). Since it’s a somewhat rare occasion, it’s something to celebrate. We spent the weekend doing fun stuff, and I got in a ton of great Jack and Daddy time. Our schedule was:
Jack wakes up at 0-six-ohmygodit’searly. On the side-table, I left his breakfast (honey nut cheereos, no milk) and a cup of water with a lid. So when Jack wakes up, he comes out to the living room and watches netflix on his ipad and eats breakfast. Sometime around 8ish he can’t stand it anymore and comes in to wake me up.
- 8:00 – 10:00, he plays Lego Batman 2, his current Xbox favorite. He’s really good at it. During that time, I was writing.
- 10 – 12, he watched a movie (Despicable Me) and I finished my writing and then started getting ready for lunch and pool time.
- 12 – 12:30 lunch.
- 12:30 – 5:30 POOL TIME!
- 5:30 – 6:30 Dinner!
- 6:30 – 6:31 Movie time until Jack falls asleep.
- 7:00 – 8:00 bath, teeth, pj’s, call mom, then I read a book to an absolutely wiped out little boy.
Now, the reason I posted our entire schedule was to gloat. Not only did I get to spend 5ish hours every day swimming in the pool with the coolest little dude on the planet, I *also* exceeded my writing goal both days. 1600 words in 2 hours doesn’t really seem like that much. It’s only 13 words per minute. Who can’t type 13 words per minute?
Today I’m a happy Dad. And a happy author. I have from 11:00 – 5:00 today completely uninterrupted and nowhere to go. Let’s see how far I can push What Zombies Fear: LEGION today.
