Friday of last week, I was struck with the idea of writing a book about pirates. I’m a Pisces, and have always been drawn to the ocean. Maybe it’s an expression of that, although I don’t put much stock in that sort of thing.
On Friday, I sketched out a map of the world on foam-core, and started thinking about characters. Saturday character development continued in my head, and by Sunday morning I had the plot mapped out.
Sunday mid-day I started writing, and literally could not tear myself away from my laptop. 8000 words later I went to bed about 2:30 in the morning. I’m posting this book live-as-i-write, like I did with the first couple of What Zombies Fear books. That writing style is still my favorite, although given the complexity of this book, I can’t guarantee that I won’t have to go back and edit previous chapter to add/change something.
